Additional Class Descriptions:

Technique
Technique at Elevate Dance Center is a 60 or 90 minute class focusing on deep stretching, strengthening, and general dance elements such as leaps, turns, and across the floor combinations. This class is required if you are on the Elevate Competition Team.

Stretch and Strengthen
This class consists of exercises that will help fine tune the muscles dancers use to power their movements. Using bodyweight, and equipment such as Therabands and yoga blocks, students will be guided through a series of exercises designed to enhance their performance in the dance studio and on stage. An emphasis on properly stretching the muscles, particularly in the feet and legs, is incorporated into this class as it is important to lengthen and strengthen our bodies at the same time.

Jazz Fusion
A fusion of jazz dance and other contemporary dance genres such as hip hop, commercial jazz and jazz funk make this style of dance a popular choice for today’s dance students. Dancers will most often recognize jazz fusion in choreography seen in music videos and other pop culture media.

Pilates (mat)
Taught by a certified Pilates instructor, mat Pilates focuses on engaging one’s core in every movement using slow, controlled exercises specific to Pilates curriculum. Muscles throughout the body are targeted, and there is a focus on using proper breath and enhancing stability and flexibility. Participants are asked to bring their own exercise or yoga mat from home.

Musical Theater Jazz
This class uses music and performance elements from Broadway musicals. Students will use jazz dance technique to build a ‘Broadway Bound’ quality to their performance, including the use of facial expressions and movements.

Advanced Skills and Variations for Contemporary Dance
Stay current on the latest tricks and trends in the contemporary dance world! Contemporary dance is one of the fastest growing genres in the dance industry and this class provides students with the knowledge and training to execute complex and fun skills being created and showcased in contemporary choreography.
